Talk:Tarot
From Veritas
Oriens' edit?
I will not be presumptuous enough to make such a significant edit myself, but I would like to discuss the changes made by Oriens Lvx Lucis at 21:55, 30 June 2007. Large portions of text discussing the nature of the tarot and it's history were deleted in favour of a single quote by Eliphas Levi which is obscure and, ultimately, not appropriate as the main content of an encyclopedic entry. I can't see any justification for this alteration. If there was any issue with the original text, perhaps Oriens can talk about it here. Otherwise, I propose a reversion to the original text and then the Levi quote can be placed in additionally at an appropriate area of the entry. That way, Oriens gets his vague spiritual quote while we also maintain significant encyclopedic content. Thoughts? Tsumaru 01:02, 4 July 2007 (PDT)
- It seems to me that the inclusion of both sets of content would be more informative. Perhaps you can find a way to merge them as you suggested. Kobok 11:53, 4 July 2007 (PDT)
- Okay, I've done my best. I'm not well-suited to such things, so if any of our beloved janitors would like to clean it up any way they can, feel free to do so. There's also two other things I'd like Oriens to clarify. Firstly, does he have a source for the Levi quote; and secondly, this sentence - "used the Tarot as the source of their Hermetic wisdom, each page representing a page of the Book of Wisdom Levi spoke of in his Transcendental Magic." I'm not sure what he's referring to here. I think the first bolded word shouldn't be page, but card or something? If you could edit that so the sentence is clearer, that'd be helpful.
