Spiritualism

From Veritas

The study and or practice of communicating with non-corporeal beings; specifically, dealing with communication between the living and the dead.

There are several forms of such methods; a few may include:

  • Automatic writing - the art by which one allows a "spirit" to write through the use of that person's hand. A similar practice is called automatic art.
  • Seances - a ritualistic setting where a psychic acts as a medium through which a spirit may communicate with those participating.
  • Table-tipping - like a seance, a group of people gather around a table; the combined psychokinetic energy of the individuals allows a spirit to knock or "tip" the table, as a form of communication.
