Senses

Sense is defined simply as, the method or act by which one perceives stimulation.
Traditionally there are five physical senses, however neuroscience has demonstrated the existence of up to nine. Two or three of those additional senses are disputed and possibly connected to one or more of the traditional senses. The traditional and additional senses are:
- Traditional senses: Sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell.
- Other physical senses include: thermoception (temperature), nociception (pain), equilibrioception (balance), and proprioception (body-awareness).
In parapsychology, there are psychic "senses" which correspond to the physical ones. These represent different ways in which the brain can interpret psychic input. The three most common forms for these psychic senses are clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience.
Psychic senses had been glibly referred to as the "sixth" sense, however scientific discoveries show that association to be misleading.
