Mortido

From Veritas

(Redirected from Destrudo)

Mortido is a psychodynamic term describing the fundamental drive towards destruction and death present in the mind of every person. The concept of mortido was initially introduced by Paul Federn in his book Ego, Psychology and Psychoses in 1953 but was further developed by American Psychiatrist Eric Berne. It should also be noted that Weiss first proposed this concept using the term destrudo in Principles of Psychodynamics in 1950.

People generally find this concept easily within other people, but have difficulty finding it within themselves.
