A near-death experience (NDE,) is an event in which a person comes close to dieing which at times is so mentally and physiologically traumatic that the person leaves their body via a mode of projection, sometimes resulting in their temporary clinical death.

Some of those who have a NDE report having been in a long dark tunnel with a light at the end, seeing themselves hovering above their body, being visited by dead loved ones, and/or seeing "angels".
